Daylight Saving Time Begins

Remember Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March14^th. So set your clock ahead an hour.

First Communion

First Communion will be celebrated on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Families with children in 1^st grade and above who would like to participate are invited to meet with Pastor Roger for two Family Events 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, March 8^th and March 15^th. We will begin with a pizza and salad supper. Please make your reservations by Sunday, March 7, 2010. If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Roger.

Learning at the Crossroads

Learning at the Crossroads will be holding a workshop on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Luther Memorial Church, 435 S. Main St. N. Syracuse, NY 13212 (telephone number 315 458-1481), from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The cost is $20 and includes breakfast and lunch. The worksop is entitled "Church and Society" in Post-Vietnam America, led by Tom Henry, historian. The issues we see in the church and in general society today did not drop on us suddenly. The dramatic changes in society in the wake of the Sixties not surprisingly planted the seeds of the changes we have faced and are facing as a church. We will spend our day examining both what has changed in the past 45 years and how we as Lutherans continue to respond to those changes. You can find registration forms on the table in the church's narthex.

Mid-Week Lenten Potluck and Worship

Zion's Lenten Wednesday Evening Potluck Suppers and Worship services will continue on Wednesday evenings,  March 3^rd, 10^th, 17^th and 24^th.  The Suppers will be held at 6 PM in the Fellowship hall and followed at 6:45 PM with a Lenten Worship Service in the Sanctuary. We ask you to bring a dish to share making sure we have plenty to offer visitors. The theme of this years Lenten Worship is "The Voices of Lent". We need one reader for each of the five Wednesday nights of Lent.  We also need a host, Set-up, and Clean-up Crew and someone to direct Children's Activities. If you would like to volunteer for any of the above, please sign-up in the Narthex or call the church office.  We also need participants to sign-up in the Narthex if you planning on attending, so that we will have enough tables set up to accommodate everyone.

Men's Group

Zion's Men's group will meet at Breakfast at Tiffany's on Seneca Turnpike at 8 AM on Saturday, March 6^th for fellowship and discussion. All men are invited to join us.

Vanderkamp Summer Camp Registration

Summer Camp Registration is Open for Vanderkamp Center. Summer 2010 Brochures have been mailed to 2008-2009 alumni campers, and on-line registration is now available through Vanderkamp's website: www.vk.org/summercamp. We encourage you to register by May 1, 2010.
Summer 2010 Brochures are also available on the table by the office door in the narthex at Zion.

Vanderkamp Open House

Vanderkamp will be holding two spring open houses, the first on Sunday April 25 and the second on Sunday, May 23, both are from 1 to 4 PM. Has it been a few years since you've been out for a visit?, Are you new to the area and not familiar with Vanderkamp Center? Is your connnection to nature running thin? If so, please plan on attending one of the open houses listed above for an afternoon of fun and fellowship in a wonderful setting. Wednesday Morning Bible Study

Wednesday Morning Bible Study meet each Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM in the Confirmation Room at Zion (Weather permitting). They are currently continuing a new study from the Lifeguide Bible Study entitled "Abiding in Christ" by J.I. Packer & Carolyn Nystrom.  We encourage anyone interested to join us.

Wise Women Small Group

The Wise Woman Small Group will meet on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the home of Carole Grove at 7 PM.  The Wise Woman Small Group invites you to join them in a study of the current relational Bible Study called "Simply Relevant" as they explore the many ways God shares His grace with us. The March study will focus on how God's grace is a Way of Life. All women are welcome to grow in Christ through the Wise Women experiences. Your Neighbors Annual Garage Sale

Your Neighbors, Inc. is an affiliate of the Lutheran Home of Central New York. This outreach program will once again hold their garage sale on Friday, April 30^th and Saturday, May 1^st. The sale is held each year at OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1640 Genesee St., Utica, NY.

If you would like to donate items to be sold the drop off dates are from Monday, April 26 through Wednesday, April 28 from 9 AM to 3 PM at OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1640 Genesee St., Utica, NY,  (please use the back corner door).

YOU CAN DONATE:

• Furniture (indoor or outdoor)
• Lawn & Garden Equipment
• Books
• Toys
• Games, etc.

DO NOT DONATE:

• Clothing
• Luggage

Zion's Youth Group

Youth Group regular meeting will be held on Sunday, March 7^th at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship hall. All students in 7^th-12^th grades are invited to join us.

Volleyball Marathon 2010--Zion's Youth Group will again be up all night this year participating in The Central Crossroads Conference Volleyball Marathon to raise money for Lutheran Charities. The Volleyball marathon takes place at Syracuse University on Friday, March 12^th until Saturday, March 13^th. The youth group will be asking Zion members to pledge to support and sponsor them. Watch for more information on the Youth Group Bulletin board at church.
