God's Work
Youth MinistryGrades Seven and Eight Confirmation ClassTeens enter into a two year journey building on their faith and understanding of the Ten Commandments, the Apostle's Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism and Holy Communion. "Here We Stand", an ELCA Confirmation program from Augsburg Fortress is used as students learn about themselves and who God has created them to be as individuals. Students are encouraged to look at life through the lens of "God's Work--Our Hands" as they live our Zion's Mission Statement to Care, Share, Grow and Serve. Return to topAs a part Zion's Confirmation Ministry, a Mentoring Ministry Program was established six years ago. Pastor Roger thoughtfully pairs a student with an active adult member of Zion of the same gender. They meet at the church for about an hour, six nights a year. As the students and mentors meet through the course of two years, a special bond grows between them. This unique ministry benefits both students and mentors! Here are some things students and mentors have written about their experiences. From students:

An integral part of Confirmation Ministry is the Mohawk Valley Lutheran Confirmation Camp, held at Vanderkamp Center for one week in July. This camp offers a great opportunity to get to know students and pastors from many other Lutheran churches as well. Vanderkamp is a wonderful creation of God's beauty with its own lake for swimming and boating and miles of trails for hiking. They experience sleeping in lodges and log cabins and eating in "The Commons", a new dining hall. It is an experience that helps them grow in their faith while they are enjoying God's beauty outdoors. Upon their return from camp, a Sunday is set aside in which they can share their experiences with the congregation during a special worship service. Return to topGrades 9th and upAll members of the High School Class are Confirmed Lutheran young adults who are beginning their personal life-long faith journey as they prepare to enter the adult world. This class allows students to develop their own way to care for others in Christian love, share the Good News of Jesus Christ in the most comfortable way for them, invites and encourages them to grow in their relationship with our Lord and teaches them how to put their faith into action by serving God in every area of their life.
